When it comes to early childhood education, Paula Riley believes strongly that all children can thrive both socially and academically when given the right opportunity. Paula believes every experience can be a learning experience. She brings this into her work at Building Blocks where she encourages children to make good choices.  Paula and her staff create learning experiences as often as possible through a hands on approach to student centered learning.

Paula has incorporated modern and classic elements to create a diverse curriculum.  Children are comfortable in the atmosphere at building blocks, and their self awareness and confidence have proven to be a successful tool to their own development.  The teachers at building blocks practice differentiated instruction based on each child’s personal development and growth.  The instructional techniques used have and will continue to create life long learners out the young minds that come through building blocks doors.

Building Blocks has a large playground, and Paula has created an outdoor classroom with a variety of areas geared toward different types of play and learning.  Her staff uses the exspansive play as an outdoor classroom where the learning never ends. 

Paula and the Building Block staff has been trained in CPR, blood borne pathogens, and first aid along with over 12 hours of State required education a year, but Paula also insists on additional training. She often invites nurses to speak about various child-related illness, EpiPen training, and Circle of Caring for emotional and social interactions. The staff has also been to various hospitals for onsite training involving diabetes and allergy-related topics.  
Over the years, Paula’s business has grown to include toddlers through older youths. She has created several classrooms and spaces that separate the older kids from the younger ones.  Activities are planned for each different age group with an emphasis on reaching a goal that is age appropriate and creates a learning experience that is positive.
