Our Caregivers at Building Blocks Grosse Ile
Building Blocks Learning Center has been privately owned and operated by the Director, Paula Riley, since the opening of the doors in Sept of 1993. Ms. Riley’s educational background includes Bachelor of Science in Education, Child Development Associate, and the National Administrator Credential. Paula operates the center with the help of a part-time Director and Assistant Director.
Building Blocks currently employs ten teachers to conduct preschool and pre-kindergarten activities, five of whom have an education level of BA or higher, and three of whom have an Associates in Child Development. In addition, one staff member completed Montessori training.
Our summer programs run under the supervision of the two Directors and two Camp Coordinators. During the summer we also employ several Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers.
The average longevity of employment of our staff is currently 11 years of service with Building Blocks. Building Blocks also employees staff between the ages of 16-18 to come in during the afternoon hours to help school age children with homework and help maintain our energetic play environment.

- 12 yearly clock hours of continued education
- First aid training
- Blood borne pathogen training
